Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is the most common peripheral vestibular disorder. Although multiple treatment approaches are available, the high recurrence rate of BPPV continues to pose a clinical challenge. To identify the most effective management strategies, researchers evaluated efficacy data from 82 clinical trials.
The meta-analysis showed that, for posterior canal BPPV, most maneuvers combined with postmaneuver rehabilitation or self-treatment were more effective than traditional maneuvers used alone, with or without medication, in achieving symptom resolution. Among these, the Epley maneuver combined with home-based self-treatment demonstrated the highest resolution rate, with an odds ratio (OR) of 33.70. For horizontal canal BPPV, the Gufoni maneuver was the only intervention associated with a significantly higher resolution rate (OR: 4.40) as well as a higherβ¦
