The point of care testing (POCT) offers clinically useful tests with reports avail in clinically useful time. Besides low volume of sample (finger prick), the POCT can be performed outside the lab by persons other than lab scientists thereby reaching the unreached. In the USA, POCT is considered as waived test.
In India, however, it appears only a doctor can sign the POCT report, thus compromising the rapid sharing of information with the treating physician. What could be the solution to overcome this barrier ? Share your views.
