I am currently working in ICU of an Institute. All patients are asked to pay some advance and the risk of treatment and expected costs will be explained to the relative before admission. I will also be explained to the relative before taking any major decisions and their financial implications also that the treatment may or may not work and patient may also die. Only when they say OK and that they can afford we go ahead with the treatment procedure. In the eventuality if the patient dies.
Now some more bystanders along with the initial relative who are present and to whom things were explained will come asking for discounts on final bill including saying that if the final bill is say 1.5L they would say I can pay only 10K. What is the appropriate measure we should take? Who will reimburse? Because we have seen some big news on dailies saying body not handed over to relatives as bills…
