It is important to protect children from Tobacco Industry Interference. This is the theme of World No Tobacco Day 2024. As per the WHO estimates, 37 million children use Tobacco/Nicotine in any form. The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO/FCTC) Articles 5.3 and 13 guidelines have been developed for countries to negate the tobacco industry interference, advertising, and promotion.
We need to reduce the prevalence of tobacco/Nicotine use among our younger generation as about 90% of daily smoking adults start before attaining the age of 18, and flavours in tobacco/nicotine products make them attractive. The Tobacco Industry should not be incentivized to get more profits from their businesses as their products kill people.
