In view of abuse of medicines by Chemists(sale without prescription) and Non -Medical practitioners/quacks and in view of MCI holy views on Prescription in standard format isnt' it right time for giving serial numbers instead of Lot and batch numbers on all medicines and keeping record of all medicines prescribed and sold electronically to make the whole system fool proof , also it will help in controlling antibiotic resistance and Drug abuse. when everything can have a serial number from stents to vehicles why not ask for this also in the inerest of patients!
and link this all to a central registry which will keep online record of everyone in india in link with aadhar card ID.
