Selwa Hussain, a 39-year-old mother of two who carries a 6.8 kg backpack which has batteries, an electric motor, and a pump that pushes air through tubes to power plastic chambers in her chest which pushes blood around her body. Selwa’s suffered from familial cardiomyopathy which means basically a very weak heart causing severe heart failure. She became critical and was rushed to the world-famous Harefield Hospital. She survived on ECMO – a temporary artificial heart. A human heart was not available so she was chosen to get a total artificial heart. Selwa’s natural heart was removed by surgeons…
