World AIDS Day is observed every year on December 1 st . The theme for this year is “ End inequalities. End Aids ”. People worldwide have been urged to come together to demonstrate their support for HIV-positive people and others who have been touched by the disease and those who have died due to AIDS.

HIV continues to menace the world 40 years after the first case of AIDS was recorded. Today, the world is failing to meet its common goal of ending AIDS by 2030, not due to a lack of knowledge or instruments to combat the disease, but due to structural inequities that hinder proven HIV prevention and treatment methods. Therefore, the world must address economic, social, cultural, and legal inequality to eradicate AIDS by 2030.
