In India, very few private practitioners are involved in clinical research. One of the main reason is that most of the doctors who are interested in clinical studies lack the requisite training to become a research investigator. On the other hand, some other doctors like me have a very vague idea about ethical clearance to conduct such trials.
A few days ago, I got to know one of the leading pulmonologists in Kolkata is deeply involved in clinical research in an institute, but I could not get to know his name. For a practitioner, how important is getting a clearance from the ethics committees in India to conduct clinical research? How one can approach in getting the same?
