According to the World Health Organization, chronic viral hepatitis is responsible for 1.3 million deaths annually, primarily due to liver cancer and cirrhosis. In 2022, an alarming 304 million people were living with chronic hepatitis B or C. That same year, only 45% of newborns received the hepatitis B vaccine within 24 hours of birth. To raise global awareness, World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28.
