Patient and family involvement is an important strategy to ensure safety in healthcare. The perspectives of patients, families, and caregivers are crucial in improving patient safety for being users of the healthcare system with first-hand experience of the entire patient journey. Meaningful patient engagement can reduce the burden of harm by 15% saving innumerable lives and huge investments every year.
The theme this year for World Patient Safety Day 2023 is “Engaging patients for patient safety” with the slogan “Elevate the voice of patients!” and is observed to persuade patients, families, HCPs, and policymakers to collaborate in order to improve patient safety globally.
