Plastic surgeons at a renowned hospital in Delhi performed 24 surgeries in 24 hours on July 15 th to commemorate World Plastic Surgery Day. Pending surgeries and new cases that needed immediate care were included in this operation theater (OT) marathon. During the OT marathon, the surgeons treated various conditions, including congenital anomalies such as cleft lip and palate, large-size birthmarks , bed sores, acute injuries affecting the skin, and deformities caused by trauma and burns .
The hospital organized a separate team of doctors to handle emergency cases to ensure uninterrupted patient care. According to a plastic surgeon, the OT marathon served as a training exercise, enhancing the hospital’s capability to manage cases during disasters and mass casualty events.
