Case presentation A 56-year-old woman has been admitted to hospital after becoming drowsy and confused at work. The woman has experienced several episodes of drowsiness and headaches. The episodes of drowsiness and headaches seem to improve after meals. She has been rapidly gaining weight recently and has experienced intermittent palpitations. PMH : None Examination This woman feels cool to the touch. She is tachycardic with a heart rate of 100/min.
There are no other positive clinical findings. A finger-prick blood glucose test shows glucose concentrations of 1.2 mmol/L (normal range 3.5-7 mmol/L).
