A young girl around 17 years presented to me with unresponsiveness allegedly since an hour. Her attendants told me she had consumed iron and folic acid tablets (around 10 in number). Her vitals were normal. Blood sugar and oxygen saturation were normal. ECG was normal. I suspected poisonous substance intake or excess medication overdose thereby putting me in a dilemma.Being late night, no consultants were willing to take a call.
The attendants were largely illiterate, arrogant, aggressive and wanted me to treat her anyway. How should I proceed with the case? Of course, I would be sending a battery of investigations subsequently.But what should I do immediately.
