To tackle the problem of increasing antibiotic resistance in gram-negative infections, scientists are constantly on the lookout for new drug combinations. Cefepime/enmetazobactam is one such novel β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combination . A recent clinical trial has compared the novel combination with standard piperacillin/tazobactam therapy for complicated urinary tract infections (UTIs) and acute pyelonephritis in 1041 patients.
