However, the standard smell tests available in the market are expensive, not widely available, and often require a lot of time to administer in regular healthcare settings. Researchers from the Queen Mary University of London have recently developed a novel smell test that can be easily administered and can be used for rapid diagnosis of chronic neurological conditions, and COVID-19, which affects the sense of smell. The novel smell testing kit has been developed to diagnose certain chronic neurological conditions, like Alzheimer's and Parkinson’s diseases characterized by loss of smell.
