Dear Doctors, Recently lot of attention has been given by the media - regarding pharma doctor nexus. The press note by MCI has also drawn the attention of doctors to the ethics presecribed by MCI. But I wish to draw the attention of all the honourable members of this committee regarding the discrimination of enforcing it. We daily see lots of advertisements in the press and through leaflets and on FM radio and on TV about the advertisement being issued by corporate hospitals. I am sending you few of these leaflets.
The same thing if done by a doctor amounts to ehtics violation. The corporate hospitals resort to so many practices which are considered ethics violation by doctors. The drugs available in these hospitals are priced higher more thatn 10% to 200% higher in many cases. Patients can not procure these medicines from a neighbourhood chemist as these are not permitted.
