Case presentation A previously healthy 10-year-old boy was reported to the pediatric unit with a complaint of fever, dry cough, acute muscle weakness, and pain in both lower limbs for the past two days. He could not stand owing to leg muscle weakness and myalgia and was on medications - azithromycin and acetaminophen.
Clinical examination No diarrhea, vomiting, rhinorrhea, or decreased sense of smell or taste Mild crackles could be heard at the base of both lungs Vital signs Body temperature: 38.5°C A respiratory rate of 18 Oxygen saturation: 95% in room air Chest computerized tomography scan revealed small ground-glass nodules scattered across the left lower lung, which indicated viral pneumonia.
