Case presentation A 28-year-old construction worker presented at the emergency department after being wounded by a power saw. He suffered from severe pain and lost teeth. He experienced no unconsciousness, facial numbness, or visual changes. The patient was a non-smoker and had no significant medical history. The CT scan of the head and neck demonstrated no fractures.

Chest radiograph indicated no aspirated or swallowed teeth. After a detailed wound inspection and normal cranial nerve exam, the patient was anesthetized with bilateral mental and left infraorbital nerve blocks. 15 cm long skin was lacerated that passed through the upper left lip down to the gingivobuccal sulcus. The laceration continued through the lower lip adjacent to the oral commissure, the mentalis muscle down to the cricoid cartilage.
