The human brain, a three-pound complex mass of grey and white matter, sits at the centre of all human activity. It guides everyday chores such as eating food, driving a car, carrying out skilled functions and relaxing. The brain plays a major role in controlling eating behaviour and activity levels. It influences food choices and the amount of food intake.
The brain consists of three parts - cerebrum, cerebellum and brainstem. The cerebrum constitutes a major part of the brain and is divided into two halves - left and right hemispheres. The cerebrum is responsible for higher functions of the body such as vision, taste, speech, hearing, learning, reasoning, emotions and fine movement.
