Recently, in a serious act of negligence by a chemist, a woman nearly lost her fetus after she took a medicine purchased from a medical store, run on contract in the hospital compound. The two-month pregnant woman going to the hospital for regular check-ups was prescribed four medicines by her doctor. Due to unavailability of one the drugs from the hospital medical store, she purchased it from another chemist with a medical store, running on contract in the hospital compound. Following which, the patient felt severe pain with bleeding.
The check-up by the doctor revealed the use of wrong medicine leading to the medical emergency. Although the fetus was saved, the issue of wrong medicine can, however, not be neglected to be minor.
