Most people with COVID-19 recover within weeks of becoming ill; however, some people can develop a wide range of new, returning, or ongoing health problems known as post-COVID complications four weeks or more after being infected with the SARS-CoV-2. Approximately 5% of patients with COVID-19, and 20% of those hospitalized, experience severe post-COVID complications necessitating intensive care.
