While medical science has advanced by leaps and bounds in the various diagnostic and treatment options being offered to patients, there are still cases which defy all logic. We club all of these cases under a common class of " undiagnosed" or "idiopathic" illnesses. So is the case for us in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. Especially with infertility. In spite of all our efforts, there are still a few subsets of patients, for whom infertility is unexplained. We tend to offer donor IUI or IVF or surrogacy in such cases.

And not all patients can afford or are willing or are not the right candidates for such procedures. At times the physiological changes brought about by the treatments itself plays havoc with the patients life. How many times have we thought of and offered adoption as a possible alternative to such cases? And why not? Let us have an honest survey and introspection…
