Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) accounts for approximately 90% of all renal malignancies. Sunitinib is the gold standard for the treatment of advanced RCC, but several patients have an inherent resistance to antiangiogenic drugs. To facilitate therapeutic decisions in these patients, researchers have conducted a clinical trial to compare a combination of avelumab plus axitinib versus sunitinib in patients with advanced RCC .

The study results are described in Table 1 and progression-free survival rate is represented in Figure 1.
