Why do institutions place an age limit for applying for fellowships? When doctors gain experience through years of practise, why are we considered unworthy of doing (at least) a fellowship/post-doctoral course after the age of 35 or so? Isn't it equal to saying we consider you to be clinically experienced but academically senile!

I would like to know others opinions/comments on this matter. Thank you.
