Norovirus , also referred to as the Winter vomiting bug, is the most common cause of acute gastroenteritis . More than 685 million cases of norovirus are reported globally, and approximately 200 million cases are among children under the age of five years. Recently two cases were identified in Kerala’s primary school children, and the suspected etiology is food poisoning from mid-day meals.

Therefore, Health ministry officials in Kerala have directed advisory that states the mid-day meals to be made safer for consumption, good hygiene to be practiced at grass-root levels, and not to panic at the moment as precautions and cleanliness can control the situation. What would be the ideal approach for curbing the current spread of Norovirus in Kerala? ##Source:## CDC##
