A 50 days infant having rash all over the body which has started during the neonatal period, is brought to the doctor by her mother. The rash has first appeared on the side of a face and then it was rapidly spread over the whole body, including the scalp and limbs. The mother had a pruritic rash during her late pregnancy period as well as the infant brother, who is now 5 years old had the same rash. The rash was polymorphous in appearance, maculopapular, vesicular and pustular and has covered the whole body of infant including the nailbeds.
On examination, the infant appeared irritable. What could be the possible diagnosis and treatment for this? *This case is from Docplexus Editorial Team for educative purpose only.
