Safer Antihistamine Use in Pregnancy: Evaluating Fetal Cardiac Risks Fetal supraventricular tachycardia is the most common sustained fetal arrhythmia and can lead to serious complications if persistent. This case report highlights a potential association between maternal antihistamine use and the onset of fetal tachyarrhythmia in late pregnancy. A near-term fetus developed sustained tachycardia exceeding 230 bpm shortly after maternal intake of cetirizine along with an antihistamine–decongestant combination.
Despite a structurally normal heart, the arrhythmia persisted, requiring transplacental antiarrhythmic therapy.
