The continuous overuse and misuse of antibiotics have increased antibiotic resistance in microorganisms by inducing them to acquire new resistant mechanisms. Due to antibiotic resistance, it is becoming challenging to treat infections such as salmonellosis, tuberculosis, and pneumonia. In addition, antimicrobial-resistant infections cause more severe diseases, prolonged hospitalization, and healthcare costs. To improve the appropriate prescription and use of antibiotics among the physicians and patients, respectively, Antimicrobial Stewardship was established.
