In order to conduct the admissions in a transparent way and to curb illegal admissions ahead of NEET 2017, the Medical Council of India (MCI) has recently launched an online information system. MCI had earlier issued a notice on April 17 which directed medical colleges to ensure that the admissions are made after following all the parameters based upon the judicial decisions and MCI regulations. In this regard, this year MCI has instructed all the colleges to give admissions strictly in accordance with merit and in a fair manner.
This initiative has been taken to ensure faithful adherence to the norms of admission laid down in regulations and also to promote further accountability in the medical education. Source: IndiaToday
