The researchers of Kobe University Graduate School of Medicine in Japan identified the group of the gene. A gene could be responsible for childhood nephrotic syndrome- chronic kidney diseases among children. They identified the gene group is HLA haplotype with the lowest and highest risks of developing the syndrome.

The Genome-wide association study (GWAS) performed on 224 of the sample with childhood steroid-sensitive nephrotic syndrome and control group of 419 healthy people. The study was published in the Journal of American Society of Nephrology.
