Asherman’s syndrome (AS), 1 also known as intrauterine synechiae, is an uncommon gynecologic condition characterized by intrauterine adhesions and associated conditions like hypomenorrhea and infertility. The name of the syndrome was coined after the name of the gynecologist Dr. Asherman who first described it. He defined AS as the reduction or absence of menstruation for any reason other than menopause.
Etiology Uterine adhesion or scarring is highly associated with one of the following situations 2,3 : Recent pregnancy or miscarriage – Women who experience trauma during pregnancy, childbirth, or those who face multiple miscarriages.
