Several states of India face the challenge of bird flu, with thousands of birds dying due to the virus causing an alert. The states of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Kerala have confirmed bird flu to be the cause of the death of hundreds of birds. Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand have also alerted citizens on the same. Himachal Pradesh reported the death of 2,300 migratory birds resulting in a ban on the export of poultry products.
Kerala reported the death of 12,000 ducks due to this disease, while 522 birds were found dead in Rajasthan. This is the third bird flu outbreak in Alappuzha over the past seven years. As per reports, 34,602 birds, mainly ducks, were culled within three days. A senior health department official stated that bird flu could also be transmitted from birds to humans, and hence it is extremely necessary to keep a close eye on poultry farms and other areas.โฆ
