Now primary school students are going to be trained as doctors! can’t believe your ears? it’s true. To tackle the shortage of doctors in the rural areas, the health department of Gujrat came up with a unique concept of “Bal doctor” – who will look after children's health and wellness under the state's school health program . These primary school 'Bal doctors' will be provided with stethoscopes as well as ayurvedic medicines.

They will also be given an apron and a badge to “ look like a doctor ”. One 'Bal doctor' will be appointed in each primary school who will function jointly with the state education department and the health department. In case of minor diseases, these Bal doctors will administer ayurvedic treatment.
