Osteoporosis is clinically silent as it is asymptomatic until a fracture occurs, and age is an independent risk factor for its development. Low-trauma osteoporotic fractures, especially hip fractures, significantly increase health care costs and contribute to an increase in morbidity and mortality in older patients. Therefore, timely and accurate identification of osteoporosis markers in older adults allows early intervention and reduction in osteoporosis-related morbidities and mortality incidences.
