These days refraction which comprises a major part of ophthalmology has under gone a major change. In past when we did not have autorefractor, photo refractor and even a streak retinoscope, after assessment of vision routinely, mydriatic in the form of 2 percent homatropine was put in eyes. We hardly put mydriatic drops except if we have a child of 4 to 6 years with squint or refraction who needs Examination Under Anaesthesia (EUA) we put mydriatic for 3 days and the modality of refraction is after visual assessment.
