As a matter of fact, in past we had paucity of antiviral agents that were essential for some of the viral ophthalmic conditions with recent advances in ocular therapeutics. The first antiviral drug used for viral Keratitis HS Keratitis was IDU Iodoxy Uridine then other anti-viral drugs followed were Trifluoro Thymidine 3 ARA-C and ARA-C i.e. Adenine Arabinoside and Cytosine Arabinoside 5-interferon. Nowadays we have Acyclovir and these antiviral ophthalmic drugs are in the form of ophthalmic drops or ointments.
Nowadays we have oral antiviral in the form of Penciclovir and Famciclovir. Share your opinions.
