Brief review on atypical manifestations of Goldenhar syndrome as we know it was first described by Maurice Goldenhar in 1850. When he came across a congenital entity of limbal dermoid with congenital associated presence of preauricular skin tag or appendage this is the classic case of GHS atypical manifestations.
Though rare can be presence of congenital squint anophthalmos or CNG coloboma of upper lid in 5 to 15 percent cases of GHS there can be atypical manifestations of oculo auriculo vetebral dysplasia and cranio-facial dysplasia. so, one could have: Facial asymmetry high arched plate Hare lip cleft palate defects in kidney spine or limbs Congenital heart hearing loss Dental anomalies Impairment of memory and intelligence A routine case of GHS only requires observation however if the limbal dermoid involves pupillary area and threatens vision the treatment modality is surgical which…
