Low tension glaucoma (LTG) is a chronic optic neuropathy that affects the adults. Its features parallel POAG including characteristic optic disc atrophy and visual field loss with the exception of a constantly normal IOP less than 22 mmHg. Although the upper limit of normal is a fuzzy and arbitrary case of LTG tend not to be truly low pressure but rather with pressure considered to be in the moderate upper normal range however normal is defined.

LTG is optic neuropathy with chronic loss of retinal ganglion cells due to genetic hypersensitivity to IOP it is also due to vasospasm and ischemia. Upto 15 to 25 percent of patients with POAG experience log. According to Baltimore eye study, 50 percent of induvial with glaucomatous disc and visual field changes had an IOP less than 21 mmHg on a single visit and 33 percent had an IOP had an IOP less than 21 mmHg on 2 measurements prevalence more…
