Ultrasound studies are the gold standard as a prenatal diagnostic tool and monitoring the growth of the fetus during gestation. The methods currently used to screen fetal growth are abdominal palpation, symphysis–fundal height (SFH) measurements, ultrasound scanning, and fetal biometry, and customized growth charts. But the challenge is to identify these high-risk pregnancies using the most effective screening methods.

These measurement tools, especially, an ultrasound scan may not reveal the true picture of fetal growth.
