Cancer is somewhat common in adults, but it is uncommon in children. In adults, 1 out of every 3 develop cancer in their lifetime, while about 1 in 285 children develop cancer before the age of 20 years. Childhood cancer differs from adult cancer, the cells look different under the microscope and respond differently to the treatment. Globally, every year 250,000 children and adolescents are diagnosed with cancer, and out of them 90,000 children lose their life to cancer. It is second leading cause of death among children.
