A 55-year old woman was brought to the hospital after she met with an accident in which both her legs sustained severe injuries. After the accident, she was diagnosed with microbial wound infection. Treatment As the first line of treatment to the microbial infection, she received venous meropenem and oral minocycline . Complications Black discoloration of tongue one week after treatment (Fig. A) Nausea Bad taste in the mouth   Diagnosis of the complication The patient was diagnosed with drug-induced black hairy tongue . Change in therapy Minocycline was discontinued .

Another alternate antimicrobial regimen was started. Advice to the patient: The patient was advised to practice good oral hygiene.
