The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has launched the CDC Overdose Prevention Data Channel, a centralized resource designed to provide fatal and nonfatal overdose data, prevention strategies, and information about CDC programs in one place. The launch comes as the latest monthly provisional data from the CDC's National Vital Statistics System (NVSS) predicts 67,798 drug overdose deaths in the United States during the 12 months ending in March 2026. This represents a 12.3% decrease compared with the same period the previous year, although the CDC noted that too many people continue to die from drug overdoses.
