Healthcare professionals are working day and night to save lives while risking their own. Unfortunately, recent events of violence against them have demoralized medical fraternity. To address this concern and safeguard the healthcare professionals, the Central Government has approved an ordinance to penalize those attacking the healthcare workers.
The Union ministry has passed an ordinance to end violence against healthcare professionals by amending the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 . This includes a cognizable and non-bailable offense, with a punishment of up to seven years imprisonment. Under the new law, the investigation will be completed in 30 days.
