Despite being preventable, the prevalence of cervical cancer is very high in India. As stated by WHO, the age-standardized cervical cancer incidence and mortality-to-incidence ratio were ~18/100000 and 0.62 respectively, among Indian women in the year 20201. This could be attributed to poor knowledge and awareness about HPV and cervical cancer.
