Chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) is a serious neurodegenerative condition most commonly seen in athletes participating in contact sports. It is characterized by distinct neuropathological findings, including the perivascular buildup of phosphorylated tau. Due to the lack of effective disease-modifying strategies, prevention of traumatic brain injury remains the key management strategy for this condition. However, recent advances in neuroimaging techniques have helped improve our understanding of this condition, helping us develop better diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
