Almost 2,00,000 new patients need dialysis treatment every year in India. but the unfortunate reality is that only 10 to 20% of them get proper treatment. The remaining are either not diagnosed or unable to continue proper treatment. The current article describes the clinical practice guidelines on anemia of CKD by UK renal Association in their 5 th edition 2009-2012.
The following are the recommendations on the management of anemia in chronic kidney disease: Evaluation of Anaemia The hemoglobin (Hb) levels in CKD patients should be checked annually.
