In recent times, a lot of advances have taken place in the field of medicines with most modern instruments have come in the medical field. Also, recent advances in medicines ophthalmology have not lagged back with a lot of subspecialties having come in existences. So there has been a lot of mushrooming of ophthalmic instruments but the key is that still, clinical examination remains the order of the day for every ophthalmic examination. A complete clinical examination should be done. Say if we have a patient of DM dilate the pupils and see fundus by direct or indirect ophthalmoscopy.
We should not directly go for FFA or OCT. Yes, if one picks up some lesions on funduscopy one can go for these investigations, similarly, every patient of a headache does not need CT or MRI. I feel a clinician should make legitimate use of modern investigations. Share your opinion.
