The Kidney Disease Improving Global Outcomes (KDIGO) clinical practice guidelines on the monitoring and management of kidney transplant recipients is intended to assist the practitioner after kidney transplantation. This guideline follows management recommendations for prevention and treatment of an infection that are common in kidney transplant recipients. Kidney transplantation is the preferred treatment option for many patients who have or are developing end-stage renal disease and who are, or will be undergoing chronic dialysis therapy.
