The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) has directed to suspend ongoing and new clinical trials to prioritize COVID-19 studies by enabling the redeployment of clinical staff to frontline care. Much attention is now focused on the drugs being developed to treat COVID-19. Since the first week of March 2020, at least nine biotech companies across the US and Europe have reported a disruption in clinical trials as a result of the pandemic. Pharma and biotechnology companies worldwide are now directing manpower and resources towards tackling the pandemic emergency as efficacious treatment and vaccines are the needs of the hour. Other medical and research institutes are following the suit.
