Some of the rare tumours are very difficult to manage owing to its nature, diagnosis and treatment regimen. In case of renal actinomycosis, it is found that actinomycosis pathogenic infections occur mostly in cervicofacial, thoracic and abdomen regions but rarely in the renal region while Wilms’ tumour of the ovary is derived only from embryonic mesonephros. Deciphering these rare tumours is someway a challenge but chemotherapeutic drugs coupled with radiological isotopes and sometimes immunotherapy with radiotherapy could prove very fruitful for treating these rare renal tumours.
Recent advances in radiation and proton therapy are sought to impart a glimmer of hope. This exclusive interview takes us through various clinic-radiological strategies and various aspects that can assist in diagnosing the rare renal tumours.
